DC’s legendary Scott Snyder gives us a 3-issue limited series focused on Batfamily newcomer Duke Thomas as he emerges as the Dark Knight’s latest ally, The Signal. What is the story behind the name? Well, Duke says this:

“My mother, she’s a social worker, and she always goes out first thing in the morning to meet her clients. She says it’s the best time to see things clearly. To see them in a new light. She considered herself the first knight on the battlefield, defending the needy and all that, I guess. And another word for the first knight out there is… ‘Signal.’”

And for anyone who hasn’t been keeping up with Duke’s adventures recently such as in All-Star Batman, he’s discovered he has powers, “Funny when you discover your powers include using light to create a replay button.”
