#AsiansInMedia Keanu Reeves returns for 4th Matrix film

Keanu Reeves, an actor of Hawaiian-Chinese descent, has been announced to return for the fourth film in a popular action franchise. This isn’t John Wick: Chapter Four, but a sequel to The Matrix Revolutions. Joining Neo will be Carrie-Anne Moss, reprising her role as Trinity.

“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends,” Lana Wachowski said.

Lana Wachowski will be returning to the franchise she created with her sister and is set to write, direct, and produce the fourth installment of the Matrix franchise. The script will also be co-written by novelist Aleksandar Hemon and Cloud Atlas writer David Mitchell. Grant Hill is expected to produce and the film will begin production in early 2020. Hill has been a producer on the previous Matrix films and since Revolutions has worked on Cloud Atlas, Sense8, and a number of other films.

The first Matrix celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, making it an exciting time to revisit the series with a sequel film. With the original Matrix trilogy earning more than $1.6B and Keanu Reeves’ amazing 2019 appearances in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Always Be My Maybe, and Toy Story 4, it is understandable why Warner Bros. would want to return to The Matrix.
