The duo just announced their next chapter, and this time it comes with thunder, torches, and a monster that refuses to stay buried. Thompson and Mitchell will star in and produce a new horror comedy titled “Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein.” The project promises chaos, nostalgia, and a fresh twist on a classic creature tale.

A Delivery Gone Wrong in ‘Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein’

Thompson and Mitchell will lead “Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein,” a horror comedy that throws them into a nightmare scenario with a legendary monster. The iconic duo revealed the project during an episode of “Good Sports,” an Amazon sports talk show Thompson co-hosts with Kevin Hart. That particular night, Mitchell stepped in as a guest host.

The story centers on two delivery drivers who expect a routine stop. Instead, they pull up to a strange castle that feels stuck in another century. Curiosity takes over. One wrong move wakes Frankenstein’s monster. The night shifts fast. What started as a simple drop-off turns into a fight to survive until morning.

According to Variety, production begins this summer. Thompson and Mitchell will not only star in the film but also produce it. The film marks the pair’s return to horror comedy. In 2000, they starred in the Nickelodeon TV movie “Two Heads Are Better Than None.” It served as the finale of their hit sitcom “Kenan & Kel.” That project combined slapstick with spooky elements and proved they could handle scares without losing their rhythm.

Frankenstein’s monster stands as one of the most recognizable figures in horror. By placing themselves inside that mythology, Thompson and Mitchell tap into something iconic while keeping their comedic chemistry front and center.

From “All That” to “Good Burger 2”

Thompson and Mitchell built their partnership long before castles and monsters entered the picture. They first met as teenagers on Nickelodeon’s popular sketch series “All That.” The show launched in 1994 and introduced young audiences to their fast timing and shared comedic energy.

A sketch about a fast-food counter clerk named Ed became a breakout hit. That sketch evolved into the 1997 feature film “Good Burger.” Around the same time, Nickelodeon gave them their own sitcom, “Kenan & Kel,” which ran for four seasons. The series followed two Chicago teens whose schemes rarely worked out. Their banter carried the show. Their friendship sold it.

Over the years, their careers took different paths. Thompson joined “Saturday Night Live” in 2003 and built one of the longest tenures in the show’s history. Mitchell explored acting, hosting, and voice work. Even when they worked separately, fans continued to associate them as a pair.

They reunited on screen in 2023 for “Good Burger 2,” a sequel that brought Dexter and Ed back together decades after the original film. During that press cycle, they hinted that they wanted to collaborate more often. “Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein” fulfills that promise.

Thompson and Mitchell understand each other’s rhythms. They know how to set up and pay off a joke. They also know how to push each other into bigger swings. That familiarity allows them to step into horror territory without losing what made them resonate in the first place.
