Pop culture is a never-ending world of updates, teases, trailers, and hopefully releases. What’s New Wednesday is Dorkaholics’ way to keep us all up to date with what’s new across comics, TV, film, games, and more! This week, the focus is on Forgotten Island, Primetime, Digger, and Avatar: Seven Havens.
- Forgotten Island – Trailer
Filipino and American actress Liza Soberano and Filipino-American singer-songwriter H.E.R. star as voices of best friends Raissa and Jo in Forgotten Island, an animated feature that highlights Filipino folklore. The film also includes Dave Franco and the award winning singer Lea Salonga.
Release Date: In theaters on September 25, 2026
Synopsis: While celebrating their last night together, Jo and Raissa stumble upon a mysterious portal that transports them to the fantastical island of Nakali, packed with magical and mythological creatures they grew up hearing stories about from their Filipino families.
Some of these figures will become friends, some foes. Joined by well-meaning-but- hapless weredog Raww and a small-but-mighty pack of pals, Jo and Raissa must face The Dreaded Manananggal, the most feared creature on the island. When they discover that the memories of their entire friendship are the price for returning home, Jo and Raissa will race to find a way to leave the island before they forget each other forever.
- Primetime – Final Trailer
Have you gotten your tickets yet for Primetime? The final trailer for the film gives just a few more crumbs of what to expect from Skyler Gisondo and of course Robert Pattinson.
Release Date: In theaters on September 25, 2026
Synopsis: In 2006, To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history.
- Digger – Final Trailer
Just how despicable will Tom Cruise be in Digger, as trailers have shown him to be the encapsulation of how irresponsible, delusional, and out of touch we can find billionaires to be. But this is a testament to his likability and talent if he can get his biggest fans to hate him in theaters.
Release Date: In international theaters on September 30, 2026 and in North American theaters on October 2, 2026
Synopsis: The most powerful man in the world embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything
- Avatar: Seven Havens – Trailer
After being treated to a revisit to the Gaang in Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, fans will get to another story in this world with the upcoming series Avatar: Seven Havens which skips forward beyond Korra’s time for a story centered on the next Avatar, this time an Earthbender. In this story, the Avatar is growing up in a time that has faced doom from the previous Avatar (what did you do Korra?!) and as a result the world fears and hates the Avatar.
Release Date: On Paramount+ on October 9, 2026
Synopsis: Set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm, Avatar: Seven Havens follows Pavi, a young Earthbender who discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra, only to find that in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, Pavi and her long-lost twin Nisha must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.
