Pop culture is a never-ending world of updates, teases, trailers, and hopefully releases. What’s New Wednesday is Dorkaholics’ way to keep us all up to date with what’s new across comics, TV, film, games, and more! This week, the focus is on “Keeper,” “The Mighty Nein,” “Stranger Things,” and “Lone Samurai.”
- “Keeper” – Final Trailer
Following the release of “Longlegs,” director Osgood Perkins hit the ground running with another production, this time for “The Monkey,” but the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes led to Perkins looking for another way for his assembled cast and crew to continue working, enter “Keeper.” The film was written by Canadian writer Nick Pepard, who was not a part of the Writers Guild of America, as well as starred Canadian actors who could waive their SAG-AFTRA status in order to film. And honestly, I know more about the production of the film, then actual plot points from the trailer (Which is actually what I prefer, since who actually wants a trailer to give everything away). We have the synopsis that sets up the setting and characters, but what are the dark forces in this cabin’s past? There’s only one terrifying way to find out… by watching the film!
Release Date: In theaters on November 14, 2025
Synopsis: A romantic anniversary trip to a secluded cabin turns sinister when a dark presence reveals itself, forcing a couple to confront the property’s haunting past.
- “The Mighty Nein” – Trailer
From the creators of “The Legend of Vox Machina,” comes “The Mighty Nein,” based on the second campaign that the voice actors of Critical Role played. Whereas “Vox Machina” felt more like a family of heroes, such as the Avengers, the Mighty Nein are much more akin to a a group of loners slowly coming together, think of the Suicide Squad.
Release Date: On Prime Video on November 19, 2025
Synopsis: The Mighty Nein follows a group of fugitives and outcasts, bound by secrets and scars. But when a powerful arcane relic known as “The Beacon” falls into dangerous hands, they must learn to work together to save the realm and stop reality itself from unraveling.
- “Stranger Things” Season 5 – Trailer
After 9 years, “Stranger Things” comes to an end with its fifth and final season. With just 8 episodes to go, eager fans will have to divide their viewing into separate occasions as Netflix will be releasing the episodes across 3 different dates, unless they want to wait until New Year’s eve for the final episode to be released and then marathon the series into the new year.
Release Date: Only on Netflix…

- Volume 2 (3 episodes) available on December 25, 2025 at 5 pm PT

Synopsis: The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.
- “Lone Samurai” – Trailer
With survival at the the center of upcoming films such as “The Running Man” and series such as “Squid Game” and “Alice in Borderland,” its place in a film like “Lone Samurai” feels refreshing as it takes place in the past so survival on this island is opposed with the threat of cannibals not games backed by technological advancements.
Release Date: In select theaters and on digital on December 12, 2025
Synopsis: A 13th century samurai finds himself shipwrecked on an island he believes to be deserted. As he contemplates his existence, it seems like a dignified death at his own hands might be his best solution. However, when he is captured by the murderous cannibal tribe that calls this island home, his survival instinct kicks in.
