Whether you’re swiping through pages on your phone or flipping through physical volumes, who doesn’t love cracking open a new manga? Binge-watching anime is easy, but it’s especially fun to catch up on a popular series or read ahead of what a show has adapted, to get more of your favorite stories. If a manga hasn’t been adapted yet, there’s even more incentive. You can read a completely new story and dive into amazing worlds on the page. Between new chapters and powerful original stories, manga remains a time-honored hobby among anime fans.

What’s more, there are always new titles coming out. 2026 is full of exciting manga releases for us to sink our teeth into. We live in an age when we can read current chapters of ongoing series as soon as they’re released in Japan, but it’s always exciting to check out English-language releases with full volumes. For those who prefer that classic paperback feel or can’t easily find their favorite series, there are plenty of new manga to look forward to in the coming year. Here are our picks for official manga releases coming in 2026 to keep an eye on.

“Billy Bat” by Naoki Urasawa

The award-winning creator of “20th Century Boys” and “Pluto” is known for writing several amazing series. Now, one of his most impactful and thought-provoking manga is getting an official English-language release for the very first time.

Originally published between 2008 and 2016, this manga follows Kevin Yamagata, a California-based comic book artist known for his popular noir detective character named Billy Bat. Upon learning that he may have accidentally copied Billy’s design from an image he saw in U.S.-occupied Japan, he returns to Japan to ask the original creator for permission to continue using it. However, he quickly becomes embroiled in a web of conspiracy, murder, and political controversy all centered around the image of a mysterious bat.

The first volume of “Billy Bat” will be released on June 2, 2026.

“Shugo Chara! Jewel Joker” by PEACH-PIT

This sequel to the “Shugo Chara!” magical girl series began publication in Japan in August 2024. “Shugo Chara! Jewel Joker” picks up where the original left off as main protagonist Amu Hinamori graduates from Seiyo Elementary School and starts life as a middle schooler. She attends Arcana Academy, where she gets caught up in another mystical crisis. As her fellow students lose confidence in themselves under mysterious circumstances, she becomes the Joker Guardian to help them all while searching for the Arcana Jewels.

“Jewel Joker” is set to release in spring 2026. The English-language 20th anniversary re-release of the original series will also come out at the same time.

“Bug Ego” — story by One, art by Kiyoto Shitara

This ongoing manga series began in 2023 and was written by One, known for “One-Punch Man” and “Mob Psycho 100.” It follows Takehiro Kokudo and Makoto Hitsujia, two high schoolers who form an unlikely pair after Takehiro comes across a strange notebook. Within its pages, the notebook describes inexplicable phenomena that occur in reality. The two dedicate themselves to document all of these “bugs” and spice up their lives, no matter how dangerous these encounters become.

The first English-language volume of “Bug Ego” will be released in spring 2026.

“OMORI” by OMOCAT and Nui Konoito

This manga, which began in 2024, adapts the popular indie game of the same name, first released in 2020. Deeply saddened by the loss of his older sister years prior, teenager Sunny leaves his house for the first time after a childhood friend reaches out to him. Meanwhile, Sunny’s dream self sets off on a journey in search of a missing companion. As they take on this perilous quest, Sunny learns to cope with his repressed memories and grief in real life.

Volume 1 of “OMORI” comes out in spring 2026.

“Magical Girl Dandelion” by Kaeru Mizuho

First released in 2024, “Magical Girl Dandelion” follows Tanpopo Ohanami. As she stumbles her way through high school, she suddenly encounters a mysterious shadow-like monster named Shade. They soon find themselves working together as Tanpopo becomes a magical girl to protect her hometown. But while she fights other monsters, can she maintain her friendship with the creature at her side?

Volume 1 of “Magical Girl Dandelion” will be released in spring 2026.
