by Neil Bui

Pop culture is a never-ending world of updates, teases, trailers, and hopefully releases. What’s New Wednesday is Dorkaholics’ way to keep us all up to date with what’s new across comics, TV, film, games, and more! This week, the focus is on “Mother Mary”, “Man on Fire”, “HOKUM”, and “The Punisher: One Last Kill”.

  1. Mother Mary – Final Trailer

Anne Hathaway fans, you don’t have to wait for “The Devil Wears Prada 2” if you’re looking to catch mother in theaters. “Mother Mary” is out this Friday. The trailer will leave you wondering what the subgenre of pop star horror will entail in this film.

Release Date: Now playing in select theaters, nationwide on April 24, 2026

Synopsis: Long-buried wounds rise to the surface when iconic pop star Mother Mary reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer Sam Anselm (Michaela Coel) on the eve of her comeback performance.

  1. Man on Fire – Trailer

Let’s go, Wonder Man! From Black Manta to Morpheus(ish), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is giving strong black lead energy from start to finish in the trailer for “Man on Fire”. With seven episodes to tell this chapter in John Creasy’s story, I’m looking forward to seeing it all unfold.

Release Date: On Netflix on April 30, 2026 (7 episodes)

Synopsis: Based on A.J. Quinnell’s book series, Man on Fire tells the story of John Creasy. Once a high-functioning and skilled Special Forces Mercenary, known for surviving even the most desolate of situations, Creasy is now plagued with intense PTSD. Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. But, before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.

  1. Damian McCarthy’s HOKUM – Final Trailer

Despite mentions of a witch and demons, the final trailer for “HOKUM” does not leave me any comfort as to the haunting masked figure that’s appeared in each trailer.

Release Date: In theaters on May 1, 2026

Synopsis: When novelist Ohm Bauman retreats to a remote inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, he is consumed by tales of a witch haunting the honeymoon suite. Disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance forces him to confront dark corners of his past.

  1. The Punisher: One Last Kill – Trailer

After portraying Frank Castle for the last 10 years, Jon Bernthal has penned a script for Marvel’s next Special Presentation, “The Punisher: One Last Kill”. Bernthal co-wrote the script with director Reinaldo Marcus Green (“King Richard”, “ Bob Marley: One Love”) who he previously collaborated with in “We Own This City”. The trailer tells us that on his path to peace Frank Castle will need to lose it first, but I’d say he’s going to really “lose it” going all out and pushing himself even further.

Release Date: On Disney+ on May 12, 2026

Synopsis: As Frank Castle searches for meaning beyond revenge, an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight.
