What’s New: That ‘90s Show, How I Met Your Father, & Missing

by Neil Bui

The world of pop culture is a never ending world of updates, teases, trailers, and hopefully releases. What’s New Wednesday is a Dorkaholics segment meant to keep us all up to date with what’s new across comics, tv, film, games, and more! This week, the focus is on sequels, spinoffs, revivals – That ’90s Show, Missing, and How I Met Your Father.

1. That ’90s Show: Official Trailer Debuts

Kitty and Red barely aged as we return to Point Place with their visiting granddaughter Leia, daughter of Star Wars nerd Eric Forman and Donna. It’s an interesting but familiar premise in the endless genre of nostalgic revivals, as we’ve seen with Fuller House, Girl Meets World, and much more loosely How I Met Your Father. In the spirit of Kurtwood Smith, “welcome back, dumbasses!”

The Show airs on Netflix beginning January 19, 2022.

2. Missing: Trailer for the Sequel to ‘Searching’

Synopsis: From the minds behind Searching comes Missing, a thrilling roller-coaster mystery that makes you wonder how well you know those closest to you. When her mother (Nia Long) disappears while on vacation in Colombia with her new boyfriend, June’s (Storm Reid) search for answers is hindered by international red tape. Stuck thousands of miles away in Los Angeles, June creatively uses all the latest technology at her fingertips to try and find her before it’s too late. But as she digs deeper, her digital sleuthing raises more questions than answers…and when June unravels secrets about her mom, she discovers that she never really knew her at all.

Missing arrives in theaters on January 20, 2022.

3. How I Met Your Father: Season Two Date Announced

Season 2 of the Hulu Original series How I Met Your Father, a spinoff of How I Met Your Mother returns on Tuesday, January 24.

Synopsis: In the near future, Sophie (Duff) is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the present where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options. @HIMYFonHulu #HIMYF
