Pop culture is a never-ending world of updates, teases, trailers, and hopefully releases. What’s New Wednesday is Dorkaholics’ way to keep us all up to date with what’s new across comics, TV, film, games, and more! This week, the focus is on The Death of Robin Hood, I Am Frankelda, Adolescence of Utena, and Avatar: The Last Airbender season two.
- The Death of Robin Hood – Trailer
In The Death of Robin Hood, Hugh Jackman steps into the role of the titular rogue to tell a story that is different from what many have come to think of when it comes to someone known for stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. His Robin Hood is more bloodthirsty and cutthroat, a fitting match for a film that shows a violent, brutal, cold world.
Release Date: In theaters on June 19, 2026
Synopsis: Grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, Robin Hood finds himself gravely injured after a battle he thought would be his last. In the hands of a mysterious woman, he is offered a chance at salvation.
- I Am Frankelda – Trailer
I Am Frankelda is a stop-motion film from directors Arturo and Roy Ambriz, protégés of Academy Award-winner Guillermo del Toro. Yes. That del Toro. The film takes us to the world of terrors that feels more fantastical rather than frightening. Like a familiar Disney film, these terrors rely on the fear of humans and one human enters their world. But unlike Boo, Frankelda plays an active role in helping these terrors, especially a creative storyteller.
Release Date: On Netflix on June 12, 2026
Synopsis: In 19th-century Mexico, Frankelda is a gifted writer whose dark tales are ignored and dismissed. Forced to suppress her voice, she refuses to give up, even as many try to silence her. But when she is thrust into her subconscious, the very monsters she created come to life. Guided by Herneval, a tormented prince trapped between dreams and nightmares, she must restore balance between fiction and reality before both realms collapse. Meanwhile, the sinister writer Procustes and his conspirators plot to seize control. As Frankelda and Herneval grow closer, their bond becomes both a strength and a curse. To rewrite their fate, she must confront a love that defies existence and reclaim her power as a storyteller—before dark forces consume her imagination and reveal horrors beyond her creation.
