Asta has spent years chasing a dream that once seemed impossible. Now, after more than five years away from television, the magic knight is finally heading back into battle. Black Clover season 2 will bring Asta, Yuno, and the rest of the Clover Kingdom’s magic knights back for another chapter. The wait has been long, but the series returns with familiar faces and a creative team ready to take the next step in Asta’s journey.
Asta’s Next Chapter Begins in October
Black Clover season 2 will premiere in October 2026 in Japan. Crunchyroll will stream the new season when it returns. The official announcement also confirms Ayataka Tanemura as director. Tanemura previously directed the latter portion of the original anime and Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King.
According to Crunchyroll, Studio Pierrot will return to animate the series. Keiichiro Ochi joins as series composer. Itsuko Takeda serves as character designer, with Kumiko Tokunaga handling sub-character design. Kosei Takahashi will oversee prop design, while Minako Seki will compose the music.
The new season also follows a major milestone for Yuki Tabata’s manga. Black Clover began in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2015 before moving to Jump Giga in 2023. The manga concluded in May 2026.
Where ‘Black Clover’ Left Asta and Yuno
The original Black Clover anime ran for 170 episodes from 2017 to 2021. It introduced Asta as a boy born without magic in a kingdom where magic defines nearly everything. He receives a rare five-leaf grimoire and joins the Black Bulls, determined to become the Wizard King.
Asta and his rival Yuno grow stronger while facing threats that reach far beyond their rivalry. The story eventually turns toward the Dark Triad and the Spade Kingdom. By the finale, Yami and other Magic Knights have been taken, while Asta begins training to control the demonic power tied to his anti-magic. Yuno and Noelle also prepare for the battle ahead. The Clover Kingdom faces a dangerous enemy.
The Movie Gave Asta Another Wizard King Test
Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King gave the franchise a feature-length adventure in 2023. The Netflix film follows Asta and his fellow Magic Knights as four former Wizard Kings return with plans to destroy the Clover Kingdom.
The movie introduced Conrad Leto, a former Wizard King who turns against the kingdom after becoming convinced that its system cannot change. His return forces Asta, Yuno, and their allies into another massive battle. The film also gave Asta another chance to prove why his lack of magic does not define his strength.
Black Clover Is Ready to Pick Up the Fight
Black Clover season 2 arrives at an important point for the series. The manga has reached its conclusion, giving the anime a clear story ahead. After years away, Asta and the Magic Knights are ready to return to the screen.
