A lawless frontier fueled by steam, steel, and supernatural terror is coming to Netflix this fall. At the center stands Brian Tyree Henry, who steps back into the animated spotlight with “Bass X Machina.” The Oscar, Emmy, and Tony nominee not only voices the lead but also helps shape the series behind the scenes. A Lawless Frontier Powered by Steam and Vengeance

“Bass X Machina” unfolds in a lawless Steampunk West ruled by outlaws, rogue machines, and supernatural forces. Henry voices Bass, a father who steps into the role of judge, jury, and executioner to shield his family from chaos. Each decision carries weight. Every act of protection risks the very people he hopes to save.

The world blends industrial grit with mythic dread. Steam-powered tech collides with ghostly threats. The setting feels harsh and unpredictable. Bass moves through it with purpose, even as the cost of justice rises.

Henry brings experience from projects such as “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” where he voiced Jefferson Davis, and “Transformers One,” where he voiced Megatron/D-16. That background strengthens his return to animation, this time at the center of a darker, adult story. The series leans into moral conflict and family bonds. It promises tension grounded in character choices.

“Bass X Machina” premieres on October 6.

Brian Tyree Henry’s Vision Beyond the Mic

According to Variety, Henry’s role extends far beyond voice acting. He executive produces alongside LeSean Thomas, Jennifer Wiley-Moxley, and Chad Handley. The show also anchors a cast that adds depth to the volatile frontier. Janelle Monáe voices Glory, Tati Gabrielle voices Dana, and Cree Summer voices Ahni. Chaske Spencer takes on Lighthorse, Currie Graham voices Rivenbark, and Starletta DuPois portrays Etta.

Studio Mir handles animation duties, bringing a track record of dynamic action and stylized storytelling. The studio’s involvement signals kinetic visuals and detailed world-building. Roman GianArthur and Nate Wonder craft original compositions under the Wondaland banner. Their work underscores the emotional stakes and industrial atmosphere that define the series.

“Bass X Machina” strengthens Netflix’s growing commitment to animated and anime-driven series aimed at mature audiences. The streaming platform has built momentum with titles such as “Arcane”, “Blue Eye Samurai“, “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft”, and “Devil May Cry”. The lineup continues to grow with upcoming adaptations, including
“Minecraft” and “Clash of Clans”.
