Netflix has announced that 30 years after its manga debut, Yu Yu Hakusho will be getting a live-action adaptation that premieres on December 14, 2023.
The legendary manga by Yoshihiro Togashi was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump for four years starting in 1990 and the live-action is sure to breathe new life into the franchise.
Netflix is utilizing a global one-team production strategy that spans both Japan and the United States in order to bring a high level of quality and authenticity to the production of Yu Yu Hakusho.
It has taken five years to complete this production, with painstaking efforts towards accurately depicting each characters’ emotions in the most subtle of ways as well as utilizing state-of-the-art technology.
Scanline VFX brought their expertise with the most advanced CG (computer graphics) and VFX (visual effects) technologies around the world in order to give life to all the characters, both human and yokai (spirits), as well as deliver realistic battle action sequences.
