San Diego Comic-Con 2023: GAMERA -Rebirth- Comes to Netflix

During the GAMERA -Rebirth- Panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2023, the KADOKAWA Corporation announced that the animated series GAMERA -Rebirth- will be coming to Netflix this September.

The upcoming Studio ENGI anime will consist of a brand new animated Gamera story, with all 6 episodes airing on September 7th, 2023. Ahead of its release, an exclusive edit of the first episode of GAMERA -Rebirth- premiered for the very first time, alongside a second trailer showing new footage of the series.

Synopsis: The giant monster “Gamera” which has been beloved by Kaiju fans across the globe since the 1960s, returns as a brand new animated series: GAMERA -Rebirth-.

Last summer. Friends. And Kaiju.

In the summer of 1989, sixth graders Boko, Joe, and Junichi were on their last summer vacation as elementary school students. As if to cut through their daily routine, a monster named Gyaos suddenly attacks Tokyo. The four are petrified in the midst of a town turned to ruins. As Gyaos sets its sight on them, a huge turtle-shaped kaiju appears in front of the boys. Its name is Gamera. Despite its injuries, Gamera fights Gyaos with all its might. This would only mark the beginning of the boys’ “Summer of Kaiju”.
