Like Pachinko, the film Dear You showcases the impact of migration and how it affects not only those who leave but also the families, memories, identities, and emotional bonds left behind. With finances and a grandmother at the heart of the film, I’m also reminded of How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies. And the topic of remittances also brings to mind Hello, Love, Again. All these connections to say, I am excited for another story that explores these themes and topics from another cultural perspective.

Hasan Minhaj as a computer science professor at UCLA?! That’s just the tip of the iceberg for a film about dance that gives the energy of Step Up with the flair of Bollywood dance. The film stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never Have I Ever) and Priyanka Kedia (Disclosure Day).

The trailer for A Different World reveals the cast of characters and classmates that will be in the life of Deborah Wayne as she enters freshman year at Hillman College. Deborah is played by Maleah Joi Moon who played Ali in Alicia Keys’ musical Hell’s Kitchen, for which she won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, a Drama Desk Award and a Theatre World Award.

The second trailer for Heart of the Beast feels more focused on combat dog Odin who has been paired with Brad Pitt’s character since their time in the military. With over 50 miles of wilderness to trek through, these two have a dangerous path home ahead of them. But this film will show whether or not war has prepared them for Mother Nature.
