Tom Holland has done an amazing job portraying both Peter Parker and Spider-Man leading the way for Spider-Man: Brand New Day to be a massive success for both Sony and Marvel, grossing around $900 million domestically and 1.4 billion internationally, totaling over $2.3 billion worldwide. The relationship between the two have served both companies very well, now speaking of relationships, one of the most well received aspects in the film was the relationship between Peter Parker and Frank Castle. The audience got to see a more sarcastic, snarky side of Frank as both he and Peter would banter during their moments together on-screen.
Potential Spider-Man Comic Storylines
The film showed Peter’s powers further mutating, leading to the development of organic webs. In the comics, we have also seen Peter get organic webs at one point, leading to an eventual showdown with Morlun. This storyline would eventually lead to the comic book Spider-Verse event where Peter would team up with a whole multiverse of Spider-Men to fight against Morlun and his family, The Inheritors. With the third installment of the animated Spider-Verse franchise on its way, there is always a possibility of a further adaptation of the Spider-Verse storyline shot in live action.
The X-Men & Spider-Man
Now that the MCU is adding mutants to the mix with the introduction of Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, a sort of brother-sister relationship seeming to form between Peter and Jean, and the announcement of the upcoming X-Men movie, we could see Spider-Man have some encounters with the X-Men. In the comics, Peter even had a short-lived appearance as a guidance counselor for young mutants and generally has a pretty warm and respectable relationship with mutants. However, we saw the universal inhibitor be left intact when Peter removed it and seemingly left it on the floor leading to a possibility of it being used against the mutants in the future and could lead to a confrontation between Spider-Man and the X-Men.
Potential Outcomes & Consequences
One last detail to consider is during the final fight between Spider-Man and The Hand ninjas, Peter spits out blood on the floor after removing his mask. Could the escaped Bill Metzger and Damage Control have taken a sample of his blood to create their own clone? Could it possibly lead to Ben Reilly (Scarlet Spider) being introduced into the MCU.
