Director Matt Reeves confirms The Batman script reset

by Neil Bui

Matt Reeves has confirmed a rumor from March about the script for The Batman requiring a complete reset and starting over from scratch.

On MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, host Josh Horowitz interviewed Reeves and asked he was going to be working off of the original script by Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns.

“No,” Reeves said. “It’s a new story. It’s just starting again. I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be really cool.”

Reeves has said his take on The Batman will be a noir driven, detective version. I hope this doesn’t effect Joe Manganiello and his slated appearance as the villain Deathstroke.

As a guest on the show, Reeves also mentioned his meeting with Warner Bros. about The Batman. He explained to them that he would need a well-deserved break after working on War for the Planet of the Apes for three years, so don’t expect the production of The Batman production to begin this year.
