The Future of Genshin Impact Looks Promising

by Oghenetega Awobasivwe

To old players, Genshin Impact may have felt like it was stuck in a stand still for a while but change is on the way.

Four major updates have been released so far and they have kept to their schedule of bringing a new update every six weeks. In fact, some big updates are finally coming.

The next update will come April 28 and includes a rerun of a popular five-star character Zhongli and the introduction of two new characters: Eula and Yanfei. Of course, the characters aren’t the only new things. From new events to fresh enemies and bosses, Genshin Impact is about to show its full potential, which is what players have been waiting for.

For old players or those who have reached what you would call “endgame”, there is close to nothing to do in the game but grind materials or coop with random people which can quickly become boring when you run out of resin (a game currency). Many are looking for something to keep them playing instead of logging in and logging out right after finishing the few tasks available.

This next update brings us back to Liyue along with a new act of Zhongli’s story quest.

As usual, there are new character banners and Zhongli’s rerun will be the first, and Yanfei will be a new four star available on the banner.

Yanfei is a legal expert from Liyue and an Illuminated Beast, a special case as she is one who avoided becoming entangled in conflict. She’s also a Pyro catalyst wielder with a unique attack that generates Scarlet Seals. Stacking these Seals decreases the amount of stamina Yanfei uses, which means she can string more charged attacks together.

The banner after that will have Eula who is from Mondstadt. She hails from a noble background but joined the Reconnaissance branch of the Knights of Favonius for reasons unknown. Cryo is Eula’s Vision and she is a Claymore user. Her Elemental Burst generates a Light Sword that draws energy from Eula’s attacks, then explodes and deals AoE Cryo damage after a set time.

New characters are not all players have to look forward to. With the 1.5 updates brings new enemies. There will be a new world boss, Azhdaha, known as Lord of the Vishaps. It’s a weekly boss with ties to Zhongli’s story, and it can change its element and the battlefield’s element at will. A Cryo Hypostasis will also be introduced and it is basically a Cryo version of the Electro, Ameno and Geo Hypostasis.

There is also the Abyss Herald. Players got a chance to fight this enemy three times in the recent Archon quest and it looks like there will be a different version of them from what is shown in the update trailer.

Speaking of the Archon quest that was recently released. It looks like the story is about to get very interesting. They delved deeper into the lore of Teyvat and it seems things might get darker. Genshin Impact has its first on screen death and the character we play finally “finds” their twin, although they separate immediately after.

We learn about a destroyed civilization and how the gods took part in that destruction. The quest made players view certain characters in a different light and those who are interested have generated a lot of intriguing theories.

There is talk that MiHoYo is planning a 10-year roadmap instead of five after massive profits. Hopefully, this is just a rumor but either way, it may take a while before users get certain answers to questions in the story.

Another new thing that Genshin Impact players are really looking forward to is the housing system that comes with the update. An Adepti of Liyue will give you a Serenitea Pot containing what’s called a realm within. One can choose one of three layouts: Cool Isle, Floating Abode, and Emerald Peak. They can later even unlock all three for the realm within by increasing the relationship with Tubby, the teapot spirit. This can be done by decorating your realm and players will even be able to make furnishings by farming them like chopping trees for wood. It’s a completely new form of gameplays and those who are interesting can take their time learning how it works and enjoy themselves, especially those who have had nothing to do for a while.

There will be new events as always and from all this you can tell 1.5 will bring a lot to the table.

At the end of the version 1.5 livestream, they shared concept photos of an unreleased region in the map, Inazuma. This is the region that has the Electro Archon, Baal, and is said to be Japanese-themed.

The only new area that was unlocked was Dragonspine in 1.2 and since then users have been curious for more.

Very little has been shared about locked areas on the map so this keeps players interested as there is something to look forward to. Some are even eyeing the future content like 1.6 as it means we are one step closer to more exploration and more new characters.
