The Battle for the Fans: McDonald’s Edition

If you’ve somehow forgotten one of the plot points of “KPop Demon Hunters”, then is your reminder that this “Battle for the Fans” is a call back to Rumi declaring a battle with the Saja Boys when it came to their divided fans, which of course had an impact on the power of the Honmoon (the magical protective layer that prevents demons from entering the human world and is powered by the power of songs the resonate in the hearts of fans).

So just in case collecting photo cards wasn’t enough to entice you, McDonald’s has co-opted that part of the film as a call to action for fans to demonstrate their fandom of their favorite musical group in “KPop Demon Hunters” by voting with their wallets to purchase the respective meal.

KPop Demon Hunters x McDonald’s Battle for the Fans: After Dark

To kick off the HUNTR/X and Saja Boys Meals, McDonald’s hosted a one night dance party for KPop Demon Hunters fans at the Bellwether in Los Angeles.

Fans were encouraged to attend in cosplay for an evening that included dance battles, sing-along challenges, photo opportunities including a photocard studio and cutouts of the characters with backdrops, costume contests, and even a special guest (and not just Ronald McDonald). The singing voice of Mystery from the Saja Boys, Kevin Woo, made an appearance (and this dork was lucky enough to get a photo with him).

DANAKADAN was the MC for evening with Ben Kang as the DJ, and the two of them did an incredible job of keeping the crowd energized all night long with a playlist featuring k-pop with giveaways including Derpy Tiger plushies.

The event was also a Battle for the Fans in its own right as the number of Saja Boy meals versus HUNTR/X meals was tracked, to see who the fans chose and which group would win.

Find Out Who Ultimately Wins The Battle for the Fans

But of course, the Battle for the Fans won’t ultimately be decided on one night in one location. As mentioned before, both of the KPop Demon Hunters meals come with a Derpy access card that unlocks exclusive content on April 26, 2026. McDonald’s has released a short preview and has confirmed that the early access includes an exclusive performance that you won’t want to miss.
