Pop culture is a never-ending world of updates, teases, trailers, and hopefully releases. What’s New Wednesday is Dorkaholics’ way to keep us all up to date with what’s new across comics, TV, film, games, and more! This week, the focus is on “BEEF” Season 2, “Funny AF with Kevin Hart”, “Swapped”, and “Widow’s Bay”.
- BEEF: Season 2 – Trailer
This time the BEEF is between couples across different generations, and set at a country club. And the range of talent is phenomenal with acclaimed actors such as Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny as well international stars such as Youn Yuh-jung (“The Wedding Banquet”, “Minari”, “Pachinko”) and Song Kang-ho (“Parasite”, “Snowpiercer”). Even the recurring cast list for “BEEF” Season 2 include familiar faces like William Fichtner (“Prison Break”), Mikaela Hoover (“Superman”, “One Piece”), and Korean-American rapper BM (Matthew Kim, BM stands for Big Matthew).
Release Date: On Netflix on April 16, 2026
Synopsis: Every couple meets their match. BEEF returns with a new cast and a new “beef.” A young couple witnesses an alarming fight between their boss and his wife, triggering chess moves of favors and coercion in the elitist world of a country club and its Korean billionaire owner.
- Funny AF with Kevin Hart – Trailer
Kevin Hart is hosting a search for the next great standup competition, and intends to showcase the grind of making it in showcase Joining him are his friends as special guest judges: Keegan-Michael Key, Tom Segura, Kumail Nanjiani, Chelsea Handler and Nikki Glaser. I’m already rooting for Andrea Jin!
Release Date: On Netflix on April 20, 2026
Synopsis: Kevin Hart knows what it takes to turn a mic and a dream into comedy superstardom. In Funny AF, he’s searching for the next comedian ready to follow that path. In this uncensored comedy competition, rising stand-ups from across the country step into the spotlight hoping to make the same leap Kevin once did from grinding it out in small clubs to headlining their own specials. Along the way, Kevin and a circle of comedy heavyweights will decide who progresses in the competition, offering a behind-the-curtain look at the pressure, triumphs and occasional bombs that shape a career in stand-up. The mission is simple: find the next great voice in comedy with the guts, perspective, and punchlines to become the next household name. The competition builds to live final rounds where a global vote will determine the ultimate winner.
- Swapped – Trailer
Do yourself a favor and watch the trailer linked below for the upcoming animated feature, “Swapped”. If the Academy Award-winning Michael B. Jordan isn’t enough of a reason to check out, then perhaps his adorable niece and nephew introducing the trailer alongside their uncle will convince you.
Release Date: On Netflix on May 1, 2026
Synopsis: A buddy comedy about a small woodland creature and a majestic bird — natural sworn enemies of The Valley — who suddenly swap bodies and must team up (while walking in each other’s feathers and fur) to survive the wildest adventure of their lives.
- Widow’s Bay – Teaser
I last saw Matthew Rhys in last year’s “The Beast in Me” where he played a killer (literally?) businessman by the name of Niles Jarvis. And because of the spectacular job he did in that series, it took me a minute to recalibrate as I watched the teaser trailer for his upcoming series, “Widow’s Bay” where it seems his character is not putting on a facade as a mayor of an island. With possible supernatural elements in the series, I’m excited to see how his character will approach the town’s superstitions in “Widow’s Bay”.
Release Date: On Apple TV on April 29, 2026
Synopsis: In “Widow’s Bay” something lurks beneath the surface. Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) is desperate to revive his struggling community. There’s no wifi, spotty cellular reception, and he must contend with superstitious locals who believe their island is cursed. He wants these people to respect him. They don’t. They think he is soft and cowardly. And he is. But Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination. Miraculously, he succeeds: tourists are finally coming. Unfortunately, the locals were right. After decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true start happening again.
