Captain America: The Winter Soldier Easter Eggs

by Stephen Huynh

If you haven’t checked out my review, here it is. But for those of you that have, and in case you missed them, here’s some easter eggs that I and a couple of my friends caught while watching Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I tried my best to keep spoilers to an absolute low, but hey, no promises.

Doctor-Strange

1)  STEPHEN STRANGE
During a scene in the film, STEPHEN FREAKING STRANGE is name dropped by a certain individual as a threat to an evil organization. Now Marvel HAS to follow through and create a Doctor Strange movie. I mean, that’s how it works right? However, by the way he’s mentioned, it seems like a Doctor Strange movie would have to be set before Captain America: The Winter Soldier. How else did Stephen Strange get on S.H.I.E.L.D.’s radar?

2) Bucky as future Captain America
Bucky can be seen holding , grasping and even throwing Cap’s shield with relative ease. Perhaps future foreshadowing that Bucky will soon cover for Steve Rogers as the world’s Captain America? I think yes. After all, Sebastian Stan is under contract for a couple of more films so this sounds like a huge opportunity.

3) Avengers Tower
Be prepared to catch this one because it goes by pretty quick. Although you essentially only get an x-rayed version of the tower, it’s still pretty damn exciting to see it in all its glory.

4) Other Avengers Members
Tony Stark is mentioned twice throughout the entire film, once for being the one responsible for building better engines for the hellicarriers (because you know, in Avengers they were so easily destroyed) and again when it’s demanded of Nick Fury that Iron Man show up to a little girl’s birthday party.

Bruce Banner is also mentioned for his creation of a serum that’s used in the film.

Meanwhile, Tony and the rest of the Avengers are nowhere to be seen while the world is once again in trouble. This really is the bane of having movies set in a universe chalk full of other super heroes, things could be so easily solved if they all just got together routinely.

5) Howard Stark was totally assassinated by Hydra/S.H.I.E.L.D.
How will this play out with Tony once he finds out? Blink and you may have missed it, audiences were able to catch a glimpse of a picture of Howard Stark as the villain explains how anyone that would’ve gotten in their way, was eliminated.

6) Post-Credits Scene
Baron Von Strucker makes his debut in an unknown Hydra bunker. Seems like Hydra’s still alive and kicking and hoarding powerful artifacts AND even, PEOPLE. screenshot-by-nimbus

Amongst their possessions are Loki’s Scepter (probably how Hydra was able to recruit so many people to their side–they just brainwashed them like Loki did to Hawkeye) plus, behind some walls and in some prison-like cells are Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver
! This scene was incredibly awesome because we got a chance to see them use their super powers. However, it was a huge let down to hear Strucker refer to these super beings as “Miracles.” I didn’t want to believe it but I guess that’s what Marvel chose to go with since they can’t really use “mutants.”
